Pampering My Cute Pet
Chapters ListChapter 18: Intimacy
“Oh, look, you have someone to take care of you. What are you worrying about?” Tang Yue laughed.
Yu Wan was very happy. She had been missing her two dogs lately. Yu Diandian couldn't come, but it was good that Hongdou was here. At least she had some company when she was bored.
Shen Qingzhou glanced at the excited Yu Wan, his brow smoothing out. “We’re starting work again this afternoon. Bring Hongdou directly to the set.”
“Okay, I'll go tell them.”
After a while, Yu Wan stood up and said to the two, “I'm finished eating. I’ll be going now.”
“Going? Where are you going?” Tang Yue asked.
“Back to my room…”
Tang Yue looked at Shen Qingzhou in surprise, then said knowingly, “Oh~ I understand. You guys are playing underground… ahem, Little Screenwriter, see you later.”
Yu Wan, “…See you.”
After Yu Wan left, Tang Yue stopped joking and asked seriously, “Are you really together with her?”
Shen Qingzhou, “No.”
Tang Yue, “Then what is it, Qingzhou? I've never seen any woman constantly around you, especially in such a close way. I can tell at a glance that you treat her differently.”
Shen Qingzhou curled his lip. “Really?”
Tang Yue, “Of course! Hey, why did I see her at your house before? You had just moved in then, right?”
Shen Qingzhou paused, fork in hand, and thought seriously. “Back then? It was because of Hongdou, a coincidence. But later, I hired her to cook for me. Well… she’s a very good cook.”
“What?” Tang Yue looked at him incredulously. “That girl likes you, right?”
Shen Qingzhou raised an eyebrow, his gaze towards Tang Yue exceptionally soft. “How did you know?”
“Pfft, are you stupid?” Tang Yue rolled his eyes. “Just think about the price of the houses in the area where you lived before. Do you think someone who can live there would be short of money? You said that girl lives across from you and is a talented screenwriter. Why would she need to cook for others to earn money? That's ridiculous.”
Shen Qingzhou pondered. He never inquired about things he wasn't interested in. There were only three reasons he asked Yu Wan to cook for him: first, of course, was that her cooking was delicious; second, she liked dogs, and dogs liked her; third, Yu Wan didn't know his identity and wouldn't bother him for autographs, photos, or anything like that.
As for whether she would agree or why she agreed, it was never within his consideration.
But after hearing Tang Yue’s words, Shen Qingzhou felt it made sense. Understanding this, Shen Qingzhou felt exceptionally good.
Seeing the smile playing on Shen Qingzhou’s lips, Tang Yue truly felt that the world was full of wonders.
“Hey, leaving that girl aside for now… what about Ye Yu?”
Shen Qingzhou gave him a puzzled look. “What about her?”
“Well, you two have known each other even longer than we have. Honestly, I think she likes you, although she’s never said it.” Tang Yue said.
Shen Qingzhou’s face was cold and indifferent as he warned, “Tang Yue.”
Tang Yue shut his mouth and said, “I’m just saying, you’re really clueless when it comes to love.”
Under Shen Qingzhou’s stare, Tang Yue continued, “Alright, alright, I know you’re not interested in her. But you’ve known each other for so long. If Ye Yu finds out you’re with that girl, she’ll probably be heartbroken.”
Shen Qingzhou stood up. “Whatever.”
Tang Yue shook his head, clicking his tongue. “I know you consider her a friend and don't want her to be hurt. But I think you’re right. It’s better for her to face reality sooner rather than later if there’s no chance.”
That afternoon, filming officially began. Shen Qingzhou went to the set first. Yu Wan rushed over after finishing her writing at home. Arriving on set, Yu Wan saw Li Mengmeng sitting outside the scene, reviewing her lines. She looked around but didn't see Hongdou.
“Mengmeng.”
“Hey, Wei Wan, you’re here.”
“Yeah.”
Li Mengmeng put away her script and suddenly said, “Wei Wan, let me tell you, a director friend brought a Samoyed over earlier. Wow, I’d heard that Director Shen has a beloved pet that he dotes on. Seeing it today, the rumors are true! I saw Director Shen smile at the dog. He was incredibly gentle.”
“Really! Where is the dog?! Why isn’t it with Director Shen?”
“It was just here. But Director Shen had to work, so his friend took it for a walk. It seems to be in the break room now, and everyone is playing with it.” Li Mengmeng said. “Want me to take you to see it? But the dog is a bit shy. It wasn’t very happy when I tried to pet it earlier.”
Yu Wan barely heard what she said, hurriedly pulling her towards the break room.
Reaching the door of the break room, Yu Wan immediately saw Hongdou, the center of attention, surrounded by a group of actors and staff. However, Hongdou only stayed close to Tang Yue, looking disinterested.
“Hongdou.” Yu Wan called out subconsciously.
Hongdou, who had been leaning against Tang Yue's leg, immediately turned its head at the sound. Seeing Yu Wan, its eyes lit up, and it instantly darted towards her.
Seeing it running over, Yu Wan quickly squatted down and opened her arms. Hongdou pounced, the force knocking Yu Wan to the ground.
“Ah, ticklish, ticklish…” Yu Wan rubbed Hongdou’s head, whispering in its ear, “Good boy, did you miss me?”
Hongdou rubbed vigorously against her, and Yu Wan giggled and played with it.
This scene stunned everyone present. The only time they had seen such intimacy was between Hongdou and Director Shen. Apart from Director Shen, Hongdou had maintained an aloof attitude. Why was it acting this way with their screenwriter?
Li Mengmeng was also dumbfounded. “Wei Wan, are you… familiar with Hongdou?”
Yu Wan froze, then laughed. “No, not really… haha, Hongdou is so beautiful, just like mine at home.”
“Ah, you mean Dianxia, right?” Li Mengmeng’s eyes brightened. “I’ve seen your old Weibo posts. Dianxia is so cute. Wei Wan, no wonder Hongdou likes you. It must be because of some quality you have that makes them feel close to you.”
Li Mengmeng subconsciously wouldn't consider the possibility of a connection between Shen Qingzhou and Yu Wan.
“Right, Hongdou and I just click.” Yu Wan stood up and saw Tang Yue’s knowing smile. She coughed. “Mr. Tang.”
“Just call me Tang Yue.” Tang Yue walked over. “Since Hongdou likes you so much, Screenwriter, would you mind looking after it? I have to leave now, and Qingzhou is still busy.”
“Of course.” Yu Wan nodded repeatedly.
“Alright then, thanks for your trouble. I’ll be going now.”
“Okay.”
After Tang Yue left, Yu Wan led Hongdou to the sofa. As soon as she sat down, the surrounding staff and actors were filled with envy.
“I couldn’t even hug it just now, and now it’s letting the screenwriter hold it.”
“Aw, let me pet it. It’s so cute.”
“Is getting on Hongdou’s good side the same as getting on Director Shen’s good side?”
“Hahaha, Hongdou is Director Shen’s precious baby.”
“Wei Wan, what’s your secret? Teach me, teach me.”
Yu Wan stroked Hongdou gently. “It’s called charisma. You wouldn’t understand.”
“Hey, don’t get cocky.”
Hongdou nuzzled Yu Wan and then started to walk towards the door. Yu Wan quickly stood up and followed. “Hongdou, are you going out?”
Hongdou walked ahead, occasionally stopping and looking back at her. Yu Wan smiled and followed. As they walked, Yu Wan suddenly realized that Hongdou was probably looking for Shen Qingzhou. Afraid of disturbing Shen Qingzhou’s work, Yu Wan squatted beside Hongdou and reminded it, “We’re just going to take a look. You can’t disturb anyone, okay?”
“Woof!”
“Then stay close to me. You have to listen to me.”
“Woof, woof, woof!”
Regardless of whether Hongdou understood, Yu Wan led it towards the filming set.
From afar, she saw Shen Qingzhou sitting under a canopy in front of the monitor. Hongdou excitedly tried to run forward. Yu Wan panicked and quickly called out to stop it. However, Hongdou continued running, and Yu Wan had no choice but to follow.
Hongdou ran to Shen Qingzhou’s side, but it was well-behaved and didn’t bark, just quietly staying there. Shen Qingzhou was concentrating on the camera and turned his head when he felt a furry presence beside him.
Shen Qingzhou’s eyes lifted slightly. Yu Wan was standing a few steps away, slightly out of breath. “I couldn’t hold it back. Wait, I’ll take Hongdou away.”
“It’s fine, let it stay.” Shen Qingzhou said.
Yu Wan nodded. Shen Qingzhou glanced at her and added, “Sit next to me and watch it.”
“Oh.” Yu Wan moved to a seat next to Shen Qingzhou and pulled Hongdou into her lap.
“I’ll be here for a while longer. If it gets hungry, give it some snacks. Tang Yue left them behind me.”
“Oh, okay.” Yu Wan saw a bag behind Shen Qingzhou and picked it up to look. It was full of Hongdou’s snacks.
After giving his instructions, Shen Qingzhou turned back to directing. Yu Wan and Hongdou obediently watched.
“Hongdou, want a snack?” Yu Wan took out a small bag of dog biscuits and held them to Hongdou’s mouth. Hongdou took a bite, crunching happily. Yu Wan looked at the bag. “What brand is this? I’ll get some for Dianxia next time. Hongdou, is it good?”
Hongdou nudged her for another one. Yu Wan gave Hongdou another biscuit, then reached into the bag, took one out, and naturally popped it into her own mouth. “Mmm, very tasty.”
Just after tasting it, Yu Wan looked up and saw Shen Qingzhou staring at her, amusement dancing in his eyes.
Yu Wan felt a wave of embarrassment. “Ahem, I was just trying it for Yu Diandian.”
“Greedy.” Shen Qingzhou took off his headset. Filming was taking a short break.
“Hey, I told you I was taste-testing!” Yu Wan insisted. “Besides, I don’t believe you haven’t tasted Hongdou’s snacks. I heard that every dog owner has.”
Shen Qingzhou raised an eyebrow. “I haven’t.”
“Oh, really?” Yu Wan narrowed her eyes, taking out a biscuit and offering it to him. “Then try it now. An owner who hasn’t tasted dog food isn’t a good owner.”
“…”
“What, are you scared to try it?”
Shen Qingzhou looked down at the biscuit, then at the slender, fair hand holding it. He hesitated for a moment, then leaned forward and took a bite. It was slightly fragrant but bland.
Yu Wan’s eyes widened, curiously watching him. “How is it? Isn’t it delicious?”
“Disgusting.”
“Huh? I think it’s pretty good.”
Shen Qingzhou glanced at her. “What snack isn’t delicious in your opinion?”
Yu Wan, “…”
A man, a woman, and a dog—the scene was unusually harmonious and heartwarming.
The passing staff couldn't help but glance in their direction.
Director Shen rarely smiled, and he didn’t like people getting too close to him… those who knew Director Shen well were aware of this ironclad rule. So why didn't it apply to their screenwriter?!
Damn! Why did Director Shen eat the biscuit the screenwriter fed him?! Something was going on! Director Shen was actually approachable! Everyone immediately felt a surge of admiration for Yu Wan. Director Shen, who remained unmoved by countless beautiful actresses, had been won over by a screenwriter?
They absolutely had to get on her good side. Their screenwriter, Wei Wan, had a limitless future.
