Pampering My Cute Pet
Chapters ListChapter 2: The Neighbor
Yu Wan made special dog food for Yu Diandian, nutritious and delicious. After she finished, she put it in Yu Diandian's dining area. Just then, the doorbell rang.
Yu Wan wiped her hands and ran to open the door.
“Hello, your takeout.”
Yu Wan took the lunch from the delivery person. While doing so, she subconsciously glanced at the people coming and going across the hall. She couldn't help but think, why is this neighbor's moving process so long? This was the fourth day she had seen people from the furniture company coming.
“Thank you. How much?”
“Thirty-five total.”
“Okay.” Yu Wan put the takeout aside and touched her pocket, only to realize she was wearing pajamas. “Um, wait a moment, I need to get my wallet from my room.”
“Alright.”
Yu Wan searched in her room for a while before finding her wallet. It was all because she always threw her things around.
She pulled out a fifty from her wallet and hurried out to hand it to the delivery person.
“Here's your change. Welcome back next time,” the delivery person said and left. Yu Wan carried the takeout to the dining room.
“Dianxia, have you finished eating? Was it super delicious?” Yu Wan asked while eating her takeout, not forgetting to interact with Yu Diandian.
However, after calling its name several times and getting no response, Yu Wan looked strangely towards Yu Diandian's dedicated dining area. She was shocked by what she saw!
Yu Wan immediately jumped up from her chair. Pointing in that direction, she said with a trembling voice, “You! You! How are you here!”
Yu Wan ran over and pulled Yu Diandian behind her. “Are you Hongdou? Yes, yes, I can’t be mistaken. Where did you come from?”
Hongdou, of course, couldn't answer her. But what made Yu Wan dumbfounded was that Yu Diandian struggled to get closer to Hongdou. “You… what are you two doing!”
What's the meaning of this? Are Yu Diandian and Hongdou starting a relationship?
Yu Wan found it a little hard to accept.
Hongdou barked twice, then rubbed against Yu Wan's legs very obediently, then looked up at Yu Wan with an adorable expression. Yu Wan had always had a soft spot for dogs, let alone such a cute Samoyed. Looking at it like this, her heart melted.
“Are you trying to win over your mother-in-law?” Yu Wan pouted.
“Woof!”
“Hmph, my Dianxia isn’t that easy to win over.” Although Yu Wan's tone was unfriendly, she squatted down and petted Hongdou's head.
Hongdou whined and went to Yu Diandian's food bowl to eat the nutritious lunch Yu Wan had personally made. Yu Wan raised her eyebrows in surprise. Yu Diandian’s favorite food! Watching Hongdou eat it, Yu Diandian didn't even get upset.
Don't tell me, this is called true love?
Hongdou ate happily. One dog's portion was naturally quickly finished by two dogs. Watching Hongdou's satisfied expression, Yu Wan suddenly remembered the initial question, “Wait, where did you come from?”
Oh no, if yesterday's person thought their dog was lost, wouldn't they be worried sick?
Yu Wan quickly stood up. “Hongdou, I’ll take you home. Just tell me where your home is.”
Saying that, Yu Wan walked towards the door. “Come on.”
Taking the two dogs out, Yu Wan walked towards the elevator. Turning around, she saw Hongdou squatting in the hallway and not coming over. Yu Wan went back. “What's wrong? Aren't you going home? Your owner must be worried.”
Hongdou barked twice and suddenly walked towards 702. 702’s door was probably open because they were moving furniture. Hongdou walked in as if it owned the place.
Yu Wan was stunned and followed.
“Hongdou, is this your home?” Yu Wan furrowed her brow. “Wait, if this is your home, then that means this is yesterday's person's home. … My neighbor is him?”
“Oh, doggy, you’re back!” A worker from the furniture company exclaimed happily, then looked at Yu Wan. “Who are you?”
“Oh, hello, I’m the resident across the hall. Hongdou suddenly ran into my house just now. I only realized later, and then I quickly brought it back,” Yu Wan said.
“That’s great. Mr. Shen just discovered the dog was missing and hurried downstairs to look for it. I didn’t expect it to have run to your place.”
“Ah?” Yu Wan said, “Do you have his phone number? I’ll let him know.”
“Yes, yes, yes.”
The furniture worker gave her the number, and Yu Wan watched as she entered it into her phone. Yes, she was kindly reminding him that his dog had returned; she definitely didn’t take the number on purpose.
“Hello?”
“Hello.” The voice was slightly breathless, probably from anxiously searching. But that voice, why was it still so magnetic and sexy? Yu Wan thought dreamily.
“Who is this?”
“I’m your neighbor.” Yu Wan almost forgot to answer. “Um, I wanted to tell you that you don’t need to look anymore. Hongdou is already home. I ordered takeout just now, and the door was open when I went back to get money, so Hongdou probably ran in then. I just brought it back to you.”
There was a pause on the other end. “En, I understand.” Then the call ended. Yu Wan looked at her phone screen. He understands? That's it? This neighbor really was a cold character.
Ten minutes later, Shen Qingzhou arrived at his door.
As soon as he entered, he saw Hongdou nestled at a girl's feet. Hongdou wasn’t a dog that was friendly to everyone; on the contrary, it was a bit shy. Seeing this scene, he was inevitably a little surprised.
“Mr. Shen, you’re back,” the person from the furniture company said. “Everything is arranged. If there’s nothing else, we’ll leave first.”
“Okay, thank you.”
The furniture company people left. Yu Wan turned to look at him when she heard the sound. Today, he was wearing a shirt and black trousers, his posture elegant, his features cold and aloof, still with that otherworldly aura.
She momentarily froze when she saw him, probably overwhelmed by his beauty.
After a long pause, Yu Wan said, “Mr. Shen?”
Shen Qingzhou glanced at her without speaking. He walked into the living room and addressed the Samoyed lying at Yu Wan's feet in a low, slightly authoritative voice, “Hongdou.”
Hearing his voice, Hongdou silently stood up and walked over, giving Shen Qingzhou a weak bark.
Shen Qingzhou probably didn't discipline the dog because there was a stranger present. He looked sideways at Yu Wan. He had already realized that this was the woman from yesterday, and he hadn’t expected her to be the resident across the hall.
However, it wasn’t anything important, so he said indifferently, “Thank you for the trouble.”
Yu Wan was stunned. “It’s nothing. It just ate a little food; it didn’t cause me any trouble.”
Shen Qingzhou frowned. “You fed it?”
Yu Wan hurriedly waved her hands. “Don’t worry, it’s definitely nothing bad. It was my Dianxia’s lunch, very nutritious.” Yu Wan knew that some dog owners were against others casually feeding their dogs, so she quickly explained.
Shen Qingzhou didn’t say anything, just sat down on the sofa. After a while, he saw that Yu Wan was still standing there, so he said, “Is there anything else?”
Yu Wan shook her head.
Shen Qingzhou said, “Then you can go back.”
“…Oh.”
Yu Wan and Yu Diandian walked towards the door.
“Woof, woof!” Hongdou suddenly barked several times. Yu Wan turned around and saw that Hongdou was barking at her Yu Diandian. She glanced at Shen Qingzhou awkwardly and chuckled twice. “Don’t tell me, their relationship seems pretty good.”
Shen Qingzhou instantly thought of the foolish thing Hongdou did yesterday, and his expression changed. “Hongdou, go to the study and reflect on your actions.”
Hongdou whimpered, but didn’t dare disobey Shen Qingzhou, slinking off to the study with frequent glances back.
Yu Wan looked sympathetically at Hongdou's retreating figure. “Hey, it didn’t do anything, don’t punish it.”
Shen Qingzhou's gaze was cold. “How should I address you?”
Yu Wan looked at him in surprise, not expecting him to suddenly ask for her name. She was initially a little pleased, but looking at his cold gaze, Yu Wan suddenly felt a little pressured, so she whispered, “My name is Yu Wan.”
“Alright, Miss Yu. I apologize for the trouble caused yesterday and today.”
“It’s… alright.”
His apology sounded very casual and indifferent. With him saying it like that, even if she had intended to blame him, she couldn't.
“En, I still have things to do. Please excuse me.”
A polite but firm dismissal. Yu Wan nodded. “Goodbye. Dianxia, let’s go.”
Reaching the door, she naturally closed it for him. At the moment the door closed, Yu Wan saw him stand up. Wow, his legs are really long.
Yu Wan stayed home and typed for two days. She did go out to take out the trash during that time, and she would always glance at 702. The door was tightly closed, and she didn’t know if the person inside was there or not…
On the third day, Yu Wan was pulled out of her house by a phone call from Xinggu Company.
The weather was very hot, and Yu Wan was sweating all over when she arrived at the cafe.
After entering, a cool breeze blew, and Yu Wan sighed in relief. In the summer, she usually avoided going out if she could. Today, she really had no choice…
Looking around the cafe, Yu Wan's phone rang.
“Weiwan, have you arrived?” It was the contact person from the other company.
“I just came in. Where are you?”
“Uh… you just came in? Is that you in the overalls in front of the cashier?”
“That’s me.”
The other party seemed surprised and paused for a moment before saying, “Look to your right, by the window. I’m waving my hand now.”
“Oh, I see you.”
Yu Wan hung up the phone, put it in her bag, and walked towards the floor-to-ceiling window.
Luo Xi was a little stunned. She hadn't expected the author of "Wolf Smoke," such a grand and terrifying suspense novel, to be a young girl…
Because it was her assistant who initially called Weiwan to arrange this meeting, she had always assumed the author was a man.
“Hello, I’m the person in charge of discussing the script with you from Xinggu. My name is Luo Xi.”
“Hello, call me Yu Wan.”
“Please sit down.”
The two sat down. Seeing Luo Xi’s inquiring expression, Yu Wan smiled and asked, “What’s wrong?”
“You really are Weiwan?”
“Otherwise?” Yu Wan raised an eyebrow.
“Sorry, sorry, because you look so young, so…”
Yu Wan curled her lips. “I’m not that young, I just look younger than I am.”
Luo Xi was amused by her straightforward tone. “Haha, I’ve read all your books. I really didn’t expect the aloof Weiwan online to be like this.”
“Ah? Are you disappointed?” Yu Wan blinked her big eyes.
Luo Xi shook her head. “Not disappointed at all, it’s a pleasant surprise. I didn’t expect Weiwan to be not an old man, but a beautiful woman. I wonder what the fans will think if they knew.”
“I’m afraid they’ll be disappointed, so let’s not tell them.”
Luo Xi smiled and got down to business. “Yu Wan, I brought the contract today. Take a look.”
With that, she handed the document on the table to Yu Wan. Yu Wan took it and flipped through it, then said, “You agree to all the conditions I proposed, right?”
Luo Xi said, “Absolutely no problem. Our company is also very happy for you to be the screenwriter for the film adaptation of ‘Wolf Smoke.’ After all, you’re the author; you understand what can be deleted and what can’t.”
“En, I hope you can primarily follow my suggestions. I don’t want my story to be changed beyond recognition.” Yu Wan spoke casually, but Luo Xi could sense her seriousness.
“En,” Luo Xi said. “Then take a look at the compensation.”
“Okay.”
