Pampering My Husband Every Day
Chapters ListChapter 3: Chapter 3
A week later, at the Qin Corporation Building.
Second Uncle Wu sat in the conference room, a mixture of nervousness and anticipation churning within him. He glanced at the door repeatedly, eager to see if CEO Qin had arrived.
Secretary Liu, who came in to refill his coffee, reassured him, "Mr. Wu, please wait a little longer. The General Manager is almost finished with his meeting and should be here in about ten minutes."
"Alright, no rush, no rush," Second Uncle Wu said, sitting down with a slightly embarrassed air.
Back in the secretary's office, Secretary Liu asked her assistant, Anna, "Are the documents for the Wu Food Corporation partnership ready?"
Anna retrieved the documents and handed them to Secretary Liu. "They've been ready for a while. But, Sister Liu, Mr. Wu is here to discuss a partnership, why didn't he even bring an assistant?"
Anna had worked at Qin Corporation for three years. For such a significant collaboration, both parties usually brought a team to negotiate. This was the first time a CEO had come alone.
"It's not certain whether the partnership will happen," Secretary Liu said meaningfully.
"Is it really like the rumors going around the company, that this partnership is to facilitate a marriage for the Eldest Young Master?" Anna asked, her expression suggesting she'd uncovered a great secret.
"Less talk, more work," Secretary Liu scolded. She wondered who had started such a rumor.
Soon, Qin Huai walked in. Secretary Liu immediately stood up to greet him. "CEO Qin, this is the partnership proposal from Wu Food Corporation. Mr. Wu has been waiting for an hour, in conference room two."
"Mm," Qin Huai took the documents but didn't look through them. He turned and went directly to conference room two.
After waiting for an hour, Second Uncle Wu finally saw CEO Qin and stood up excitedly. "CEO Qin."
"I'm sorry to have kept you waiting, Mr. Wu," Qin Huai said apologetically.
"It's alright, it's alright. I arrived too early," Second Uncle Wu said, his eyes glancing at the documents in Qin Huai's hands.
Qin Huai smiled without speaking. He sat down opposite Second Uncle Wu and casually placed the partnership proposal beside him. "Mr. Wu, we've reviewed your proposal. It's highly feasible, and we're very interested in collaborating."
"Then… then that's wonderful! It's our honor to cooperate with Qin Corporation," Second Uncle Wu's eyes lit up, his excitement evident.
"However…" Qin Huai suddenly changed his tone.
"Is there a problem?" Second Uncle Wu asked anxiously.
"Oh, don't worry. This is not just a partnership, but also a marriage alliance, so we should be even closer," Qin Huai smiled. "My mother would like to invite Miss Wu Tong to our home for dinner next Wednesday, to help foster a good relationship."
"Wu Tong?" Second Uncle Wu asked, shocked. "She…"
"Is there a problem?" Qin Huai asked with a smile, his fingers tapping unconsciously on the partnership proposal.
After a brief moment of astonishment, Second Uncle Wu quickly recovered. Recalling what the Eldest Young Master Qin had said when he left the hotel last time, Second Uncle Wu realized that the Qin family wanted to change their choice for the marriage alliance. The intended bride was now his niece, Wu Tong.
"Alright, we'll definitely be there on Wednesday," Second Uncle Wu said.
"Good. Then next week, I'll have someone go to Wu Food Corporation to discuss the specific details with you. If there are no issues, the first installment of funds will be transferred shortly," Qin Huai continued.
"Alright," Second Uncle Wu knew in his heart that whether this person would actually visit Wu Food Corporation, and whether the partnership would truly happen, depended on this Wednesday's dinner.
Qin Huai personally escorted him to the elevator and then returned to his office. He handed the partnership proposal to his special assistant, Lin Wei. "You're in charge of the collaboration with Wu Food Corporation. When you go next week, take Lawyer Zhou with you. Do you remember what I told you last time?"
"Don't worry, the additional clauses have already been drafted," Lin Wei handed a sheet of paper to Qin Huai.
Qin Huai took it, glanced over it briefly, and expressed his satisfaction.
Sitting in the car, Second Uncle Wu pondered what to do. He was so lost in thought that he didn't react when the driver parked at the Wu Corporation building.
"Sir, we've arrived at the company," the driver reminded him softly.
"Ah, oh," Second Uncle Wu glanced out the window. The 20th to 23rd floors of this building housed Wu Corporation's offices, where hundreds of employees worked. This was his life's work. "Take me home."
"Yes, sir," the driver obeyed, though puzzled by his boss's sudden change of plans.

At the Wu residence, Mrs. Wu was surprised to see her husband home at this hour. "Why are you back at this time?"
"I just came back from Qin Corporation," Second Uncle Wu said, sinking wearily into the sofa.
Hearing that her husband had just returned from Qin Corporation, Mrs. Wu asked anxiously, "How did it go? Did you secure the partnership?"
"Qin Corporation expressed their continued willingness to cooperate with us," Second Uncle Wu said, "But the intended bride is not Zhizhi."
"Not Zhizhi? Didn't you say that Qin Corporation agreed to cooperate with us because they wanted to find a wife for Eldest Young Master Qin? If they don't need Zhizhi for the marriage, and they still want to cooperate with us, is there such a good thing?" Mrs. Wu asked.
"They don't want Zhizhi because they've taken a liking to Wu Tong."
"What?" Mrs. Wu shrieked. "Wu Tong? What does this have to do with Wu Tong?"
"Have you forgotten what Eldest Young Master Qin said when he left the hotel last time?" Second Uncle Wu asked self-deprecatingly. "We didn't take it seriously, but they did."
"What do we do now? That Wu Tong girl isn't one to be easily swayed," Mrs. Wu worried.
"Mrs. Qin wants to invite Wu Tong to dinner at their home next Wednesday, and Qin Corporation will only send people to formally negotiate with us next week," Second Uncle Wu said, glancing at his wife.
"They're…" Mrs. Wu quickly understood, slapping the coffee table as she stood up. "Let's go find Wu Tong."
"And then what? What are we going to tell her?" Second Uncle Wu asked. "Have you forgotten how we've treated her lately?"
"Becoming the Eldest Young Madam of the Qin family isn't a bad deal for her, is it? Could she marry into such a family on her own?" Mrs. Wu argued.
"Do you think everyone thinks the same way you do?" Second Uncle Wu retorted sarcastically.
"Then what do we do? If it weren't for her barging in that day, things wouldn't have turned out this way!" Mrs. Wu fumed.
"That's true. At worst, Eldest Young Master Qin wouldn't have taken a liking to Zhizhi, and today they would have simply informed me that Qin Corporation couldn't cooperate with us," Second Uncle Wu saw things more clearly than his wife. Although Qin Corporation wanted the marriage alliance, they cared about Eldest Young Master Qin's opinion. Otherwise, there wouldn't have been that blind date at the hotel. Ultimately, Eldest Young Master Qin hadn't taken a liking to his daughter.
"Our Zhizhi is better than Wu Tong in every way. That Eldest Young Master Qin is blind…"
"Alright, is there any point in saying this now?" Second Uncle Wu interrupted his wife's rant.
"Then what do we do now?"
"What else can we do? Either we give up on the partnership…"
"No! Didn't you say the company can't hold on much longer?" Mrs. Wu interrupted her husband.
"Then we can only let Wu Tong marry him," Second Uncle Wu said, looking at his wife. "Call Zhizhi and Wu Kai and tell them to come back. Tomorrow, we'll go to the hospital together."
Mrs. Wu's lips moved, but she ultimately didn't say anything more.
The next day, in the central garden of Ankang Hospital, Wu Tong pushed her younger brother, Xiao Yuan, in his wheelchair as they strolled.
"Sister, the sun's getting a bit strong. Let's sit over there for a while," Xiao Yuan pointed to a pavilion not far away.
"Okay," Wu Tong pushed her brother into the pavilion.
"Sister, have some water," Xiao Yuan said, looking at his sister's slightly pale face with concern.
"Thank you, Xiao Yuan," Wu Tong smiled, taking the water bottle.
"Sister, are you too tired lately? You don't have to come to the hospital to accompany me all the time. Take some time to rest. Look, you've lost weight, and your skin isn't as good as before," Xiao Yuan teased. "Be careful, or you won't be pretty anymore, and you won't be able to find a boyfriend."
"What do you know, you're still young?" Wu Tong said dismissively.
"I'm not young, I'm already a freshman in college…"
"That's true. If it weren't for this illness, you should be at school now," Wu Tong had watched, almost day by day, as her sunny and handsome younger brother gradually became the pale and thin young man before her.
His once stylish short hair had also fallen out due to chemotherapy.
"Sister, don't worry, I'll be fine. The doctor said I'm recovering well," Xiao Yuan quickly comforted his sister, seeing her low spirits.
"Yes, you'll definitely be fine. Oh, I forgot to tell you, I saw Second Uncle last time. He's agreed to come for a bone marrow match. He's just too busy with work to get away right now. He said he'll come when his work is arranged," Wu Tong coaxed her brother. No matter what, Second Uncle's family was Xiao Yuan's last hope, and Wu Tong would absolutely not give up.
Thinking back to what the doctor had told her half a month ago, Wu Tong's gaze became even more determined.
"Wu Tong, your brother's illness can't hold on much longer. If there's no suitable bone marrow match, he has at most two months left. I suggest… maybe… you should stop the chemotherapy."
"Second Uncle?" Xiao Yuan's impression of his seldom-seen Second Uncle was vague. When he was younger, because of their grandfather, the two families would meet a few times a year. After their grandfather passed away, they contacted each other less, and after that, they only saw each other once, three years ago, at their parents' funeral.
"Yes, Second Uncle heard that you're sick and is very worried," Wu Tong smiled. "The doctor said that the success rate of matching with relatives is very high, so you'll definitely be fine."
"Mm," Whether it was true or not, Xiao Yuan didn't want his sister to worry, so he nodded happily.
"Let's go back to the ward," Wu Tong pushed the wheelchair back to the ward, afraid her brother would get tired.
But the moment they opened the ward door, they saw the people inside, and the siblings froze.
"Second Uncle, Second Aunt…" Wu Tong stammered after a moment of shock.
"Wu Tong," Second Uncle nodded at Wu Tong and then looked at Xiao Yuan with concern. "Xiao Yuan, I'm sorry, I'm only coming to see you now, after you've been sick for so long."
"Second Uncle, Second Aunt, and Cousin Zhizhi, Cousin Kai. Thank you for coming to see me," Xiao Yuan greeted them with a smile.
"We're not just here to see you. Your Second Uncle heard that you need a bone marrow match, so he brought your cousins, Zhizhi and Kai. Especially your cousin Kai, who flew back from abroad specifically for this," Second Aunt chimed in.
Xiao Yuan was visibly touched. Wu Tong, however, looked at Second Uncle's family in shock. She still vividly remembered their attitude last week. How could they have changed so suddenly?
Even after the blood draw, Wu Tong was still in a daze.
"Alright, the matching will take about a week. Xiao Yuan's situation is urgent, so we'll expedite the process. We should have the results by next Monday. Hopefully, it's good news," the doctor said with a smile and nodded before leaving.
"Second Uncle, thank you on behalf of Xiao Yuan," Wu Tong stood up and bowed to Second Uncle's family.
"We're all family, there's no need to be so formal," Second Uncle quickly helped Wu Tong up and then gave his wife a look.
"Yes, yes, Wu Tong, you're too serious," Second Aunt added.
"Are we done yet? I still have things to do," Wu Zhizhi said unhappily.
Wu Kai shrugged indifferently.
"Then you go back and take care of Xiao Yuan. We'll come back next Monday," Second Uncle said.
"Okay," Second Uncle's family coming for the bone marrow matching was already a great blessing. Wu Tong didn't care about Wu Zhizhi's sullen face throughout and eagerly escorted them to the hospital entrance.
Once in the car, the expressions of Second Uncle's family turned serious. Wu Zhizhi said directly, "If there's a match, I won't really have to donate bone marrow, will I? I heard it's very painful."
"The results won't be out until next Monday, right? Sis, if you don't want to donate bone marrow, why don't you go after Eldest Young Master Qin?" Wu Kai teased.
"I wouldn't even consider him. He's a brute. I prefer gentlemen, like Second Young Master Qin."
"Too bad he doesn't like you," Wu Kai gloated.
"Aren't you worried?" Wu Zhizhi asked.
"I don't care. I was never against donating bone marrow. It was you and Mom who disagreed. I was planning to come secretly this week anyway…"
"You…" Hearing that her son had such thoughts, Mrs. Wu wanted to scold him.
"Alright, is there any point arguing about this now?" Second Uncle roared, and the car finally fell silent.
He now probably hoped, just like Wu Tong, that the bone marrow would match.
"But if there is a match, how are you going to tell Cousin Wu Tong?" Wu Kai couldn't help but ask. "I feel like we're taking advantage of her situation."
"Shut up!" Second Aunt glared at her son.
That Wu Tong girl, she'd have to agree whether she wanted to or not. Did she think bone marrow was that easy to get?
