Pampering My Husband Every Day

Chapter 9: Chapter 9

After the surgery, Xiaoyuan's body recovered quickly. His body, which had been weakened by chemotherapy, slowly began to show new vitality. Wu Tong desperately wanted to give her younger brother lots of nourishing food, but the doctor advised her to start with a nutritious diet. Wu Tong could only buy more of her brother's favorite fruits to satisfy his cravings.

Wu Kai rested in the hospital for two days after donating his bone marrow and was being discharged today. Wu Tong planned to visit him with Xiaoyuan after washing some fruit, but she didn't expect her cousin, Wu Kai, to arrive at Xiaoyuan's ward first.

"Xiao Kai, why are you here? I was just about to go see you off," Wu Tong said as she opened the door. Seeing Second Aunt Wu also present, she politely addressed her, "Second Aunt."

"My mom came to pick me up from the hospital today and brought some chicken soup for Xiaoyuan," Xiao Kai explained.

Wu Tong glanced at the lunchbox on the table beside the bed with surprise and said, "Thank you, Second Aunt."

"It's nothing, just something I did on the way," Second Aunt Wu replied with a rare gentleness.

Wu Tong smiled, sat down, and quietly peeled an orange while listening to Wu Kai and Xiaoyuan talk.

"Xiaoyuan, how about you give me that pair of limited-edition GH basketball shoes? You won't be using them for a while anyway," Wu Kai had been pestering Xiaoyuan for his coveted basketball shoes before Wu Tong returned.

"But I bought them as a collector's item. I didn't plan on wearing them to play basketball." Xiaoyuan had gone to great lengths to buy this pair of limited-edition GH shoes, which were no longer available on the market.

"Shoes are meant to be worn. It's a waste to keep them at home. Since your older cousin's basketball skills are so good, just give them to me. The next time I see them, I'll buy another pair for you," Wu Kai continued to coax him.

"But…" Xiaoyuan was still reluctant, but seeing that his cousin seemed to really like them, he wavered.

Second Aunt Wu, seeing her son asking Xiaoyuan for the shoes for so long without success, became displeased. "Xiaoyuan, your cousin saved your life. How can you be so unwilling to part with a pair of shoes?"

"Uh…" Xiaoyuan's face flushed red, but he couldn't say anything.

"Mom??" Wu Kai called out to his mother disapprovingly, immediately losing his desire for the shoes.

Wu Tong paused in her orange peeling, then continued to remove the last piece of rind. Handing the whole orange to her embarrassed brother, she said, "Eat some fruit first. I'll have lunch with you after I see Xiao Kai off."

"Right, right, I still have to go back and pack my things." Wu Kai was also depressed. The originally happy atmosphere had become extremely awkward because of his mother's words. He couldn't stay any longer and immediately opened the door to leave, echoing Wu Tong's words.

Seeing her son leave, Second Aunt Wu naturally didn't want to stay any longer and stood up to leave as well.

"Second Aunt, I'll see you off," Wu Tong stood up and walked out with her.

They walked a few steps and quickly reached the elevator. Second Aunt Wu turned around and said, "Alright, you don't have to see me off any further."

Wu Tong readily stopped.

"You remember what day it is tomorrow, right?" Second Aunt Wu asked.

"What day?" Wu Tong pretended not to know.

"You don't remember?" Second Aunt Wu said angrily, "Tomorrow is the agreed-upon day for you to register your marriage with Young Master Qin. Don't tell me you're going to back out now that the surgery is done. I'm telling you…"

"It seems Second Aunt still remembers… why you had Xiao Kai donate his bone marrow," Wu Tong suddenly said with a cold laugh.

"What do you mean?" Second Aunt Wu asked.

"I didn't tell Xiaoyuan how the bone marrow came about because I really didn't want him to know about this. But I don't want to hear what you just said in the ward again," Wu Tong said.

"What did I say wrong?" Second Aunt Wu couldn't believe that Wu Tong, a junior, dared to confront her. "If Xiaoyuan didn't have our Xiao Kai's bone marrow donation, it would be a question of whether he would even be alive now. Was I wrong to say that he saved his life?"

"So, our family can never repay this kindness," Wu Tong retorted, laughing in anger.

"Of course."

"Then why should I marry anyone else? I'll just live at your house, and Xiaoyuan and I will be your family's servants to repay you," Wu Tong said.

"You…" Second Aunt Wu was so choked by Wu Tong's words that she couldn't speak.

"Second Aunt, no matter what, your family saved Xiaoyuan's life, and I'm grateful. I promised to marry Qin Ge, and I will naturally keep my word. However, I don't want the last bit of affection between our two families… to be worn away bit by bit," Wu Tong looked at Second Aunt Wu, her words carrying a warning. "After all, you also know that Xiaoyuan's surgery is done, and the Qin family can withdraw their investment at any time."

"What do you mean?" Second Aunt Wu raged.

"The elevator's here, goodbye Second Aunt." Wu Tong smiled and waved, not waiting for Second Aunt Wu to enter the elevator before turning around and walking back.

Second Aunt Wu's face was contorted with anger, but she couldn't do anything to Wu Tong. Just as this girl said, the future of the Wu family was truly in her hands.

When Wu Tong returned to the ward, Xiaoyuan was still sitting on the bed in a daze, holding the peeled orange.

"Why aren't you eating?" Wu Tong asked softly.

"Sister," Xiaoyuan looked up sadly, "I wasn't being stingy with my cousin just now. I was already thinking of agreeing."

"I know, and Xiao Kai won't mind," Wu Tong sat on the bedside and said to her brother. "Xiaoyuan, remember, Xiao Kai saved you, and we must remember his kindness, but there's no need to give in to him on everything. We just need to remember to help him when he truly needs it."

Xiaoyuan nodded thoughtfully.

Wednesday's weather was beautiful, sunny and cloudless, not at all gloomy because of Wu Tong's mood.

Isn't it said that when you're in a bad mood, it feels like it's going to rain? Why was the temperature still so high today? Even the full blast of air conditioning in the Civil Affairs Bureau hall couldn't alleviate the heat in Wu Tong's heart.

When Qin Ge, wearing camouflage pants and a black T-shirt, walked into the hall, he almost immediately saw Wu Tong. This wasn't just because she was the only one sitting alone, but perhaps also because she was the most beautiful person in the entire hall.

Her long hair cascaded casually, a white chiffon blouse and tight-fitting seven-point jeans outlined her shapely legs, and silver sandals adorned her bare ankles.

Wu Tong felt a tall figure standing in front of her. Looking up, she saw Qin Ge and casually asked, "You're here."

"You're not happy," Qin Ge keenly perceived Wu Tong's emotions.

Of course, she wasn't happy. What woman would be happy to marry an almost complete stranger? However, Wu Tong couldn't admit it. Forcing a smile, she shook her head and said, "No."

"You're not happy!" Qin Ge said with even more certainty.

Did this man have to be so persistent? Didn't he have any emotional intelligence at all? Wu Tong couldn't help but roll her eyes and said, "Yes, yes, I've been waiting for you for a long time. Why are you late?"

Hearing Wu Tong's complaint, Qin Ge grinned and said, "There was a minor car accident on the way here that blocked the road. I had to find a motorcycle to get here. Look at the sweat on my forehead."

Wu Tong looked and indeed saw that the man's head was covered in sweat. His crew-cut hair was completely soaked with beads of perspiration, and his T-shirt clung to his body, although the dark color made it less obvious.

"Do you want to wash your face first?" Wu Tong asked.

"How much longer until it's our turn?" Qin Ge asked.

"Our number was just called, but I got a new one. It'll probably be a while," Wu Tong said.

Qin Ge straightened up, pulled his household registration book and ID card from his back pocket, handed them to Wu Tong, said "Hold these for me," and went to the restroom.

About five minutes later, Qin Ge returned and plopped down beside Wu Tong. Wu Tong saw that although the man had washed his face, his face was still wet, and he hadn't wiped the water droplets. So, she took out a small pack of tissues from her bag and handed it to him.

"What's this for?" Qin Ge looked at the tissues that suddenly appeared in front of him with a puzzled expression.

"To dry your face," Wu Tong said.

Qin Ge raised an eyebrow, as if thinking of something amusing. He turned half his body towards Wu Tong and said, "Then you wipe it for me."

"You…" What's it like to have a 1.8-meter-tall, burly man with a scar on his face act cute towards you?

"Hurry up, the water's getting in my eyes. It's a bit uncomfortable," Qin Ge urged.

Why was it suddenly uncomfortable? If it was uncomfortable, why didn't he wipe it earlier? Wu Tong could only yell these words in her heart. In the end, she resignedly took out a tissue and slowly wiped the water droplets from Qin Ge's face.

Qin Ge kept the corners of his mouth curled up, staring at Wu Tong without blinking.

Wu Tong couldn't stand being stared at like this and couldn't help but say, "Can you please stop looking at me like that?"

"But you're the only one I see," Qin Ge said innocently.

"Then close your eyes."

"Closing my eyes in an unfamiliar place makes me feel insecure," Qin Ge said. "Feeling insecure makes me irritable. You know I have…"

"I know, you can look," Wu Tong said in resignation.

So Qin Ge stared even more blatantly, until Wu Tong finished wiping the water droplets from his face. He then asked with a look of lingering satisfaction, "My hair is still wet. Can you wipe it for me too?"

"You don't need to wipe your hair," Wu Tong said.

"Oh… so you prefer my face," Qin Ge said as if suddenly realizing something.

How did you come to that conclusion? Wu Tong really wanted to crack open his head and see what was inside.

Seeing that Wu Tong was ignoring him, Qin Ge looked around boredly. Just like his mother said, today was indeed a good day. The hall was full of newlyweds.

But something seemed different. Qin Ge observed for a while, then quietly moved closer to Wu Tong.

Wu Tong was startled by Qin Ge's sudden approach and asked inexplicably, "What are you doing?"

"Sitting closer."

"Why sit so close?"

"Look at the others," Qin Ge gestured with his eyes for Wu Tong to look around.

Wu Tong looked around doubtfully and saw that the other newlyweds in the hall were all beaming. They were either clinging to each other or holding hands tightly, and some excited couples were even hugging and kissing. Wu Tong turned back awkwardly, but unexpectedly brushed against Qin Ge's lips, which had somehow gotten close to hers.

Qin Ge's eyes lit up. He propped one hand on the back of the chair and used the other to catch Wu Tong's head as she tried to pull away, pressing his lips hard against hers. Wu Tong pounded on his chest a few times, but the man's body was as hard as a rock. Wu Tong only felt pain in her lips and hands.

Fortunately, Qin Ge still knew where they were and quickly released Wu Tong. However, poor Wu Tong's slightly healed lips were bitten again. Did this man only know how to bite lips when kissing?

Glared at by Wu Tong, Qin Ge said with some lingering satisfaction, "What flavor is your lipstick? It's quite sweet."

Wu Tong ignored him, took out her compact, opened it, and looked at her lips. Her makeup was indeed smudged. She still had to take pictures later. Wu Tong was about to stand up and go to the restroom to touch up her makeup when her number was called over the loudspeaker.

Wu Tong had no choice but to wipe her lips casually and go to the counter with Qin Ge.

While taking the photo, the photographer blatantly praised Qin Ge in front of Wu Tong, "Buddy, this move of yours is ruthless. From now on, whenever you take out your marriage certificate, the scent of your male hormones will be overwhelming."

Qin Ge was also very satisfied looking at Wu Tong's obviously bitten lips in the couple's photo.

Wu Tong, holding the freshly printed marriage certificate, wished she could hide it somewhere no one could find.

"Wife…" Qin Ge suddenly called out.

Wu Tong turned around in surprise.

"From this moment on, you are my wife," Qin Ge waved the marriage certificate in his hand.

Was there any need to emphasize this specifically?

"With this certificate, is it now legal for me to kiss you?"

"You kissed me even without a certificate," Wu Tong retorted.

"How could I do such a thing? That would be indecent," Qin Ge vehemently denied. "Every time, you kissed me first."

Rogue!!!! Wu Tong had never met such a shameless person.
