Chapter 75: Corpse Flesh

Inside the chaotic private room, music pounded like thunder. Xue Yang held his phone, his hand wandering over the woman in his arms.

He had been drinking, his body reeked of alcohol, and his eyes were unfocused.

"What is it?"

"Young Master Xue, I have some news about your father."

Xue Yang frowned impatiently. He didn't care if his father fooled around with women, but sleeping with the wife of a company executive was too much, especially since the woman wasn't exactly being discreet.

"How much do you want?"

"500,000."

"Tsk—" Xue Yang sneered. "If this news is worth that much, you should keep it to yourself." He hung up the phone.

The woman on the other end of the phone didn't expect to be hung up on. Her face darkened. Last time, Xue Yang had bought the news of Xue Jun wanting to marry Tang Susu from her for a million yuan. The sudden windfall had been addictive. Who knew Xue Yang wouldn't be interested this time?

When she called back, no one answered. She slammed her phone down in anger.

Xue Yang tossed his phone into his pocket after hanging up. He put his arms around the woman and walked upstairs. Right now, his mind was only on the woman. Who cared about the old man's business?

After sending Tang Qiming away, Tang Susu cleaned up the house and took out the book Qi Yue had given her.

The book was called "Records of a Hundred Lives." It mostly contained strange and unusual stories, at least for ordinary people.

Because it was written in classical Chinese, Tang Susu could barely understand it. She could only treat Gou Dan to good food and drinks, asking it to translate.

"Found it, this is it." Gou Dan pressed its paw on the page and patted the illustration.

Tang Susu looked over. The illustrations in the book were simple line drawings. This one vaguely resembled a human figure, but without facial features.

The words above were difficult to make out, but she could still recognize the two characters for "Tai Sui."

"What does it say?"

Gou Dan glanced at the text next to it and translated, "It says that if you seal the seven orifices of a person who died unjustly with a secret medicine, air-dry the corpse for 49 days, and then bury it in the ground, the corpse will be infused with Yin energy day and night. The secret medicine will transform the corpse into something like Tai Sui. This thing is called Corpse Flesh."

The description in the book made Tang Susu feel a little sick. After all, this thing was made from a corpse, and Old Madam Tang and Old Master Tang had probably eaten a lot of it.

"Does the book say what Corpse Flesh is used for?"

"It says that Corpse Flesh, like Tai Sui, can prolong life." Gou Dan flipped a page, read for a while, then pointed to a passage written in a different style. "There's an annotation here by someone else. It says that if an ordinary person eats Corpse Flesh, their body will slowly become like Corpse Flesh. If you take a part of that person's body and feed it to someone else, and keep cultivating it like this, you will eventually grow a real Tai Sui. Refined into a pill, it can extend one's lifespan by 120 years."

Reading this, Gou Dan couldn't help but shiver. What kind of evil research was this? It was terrifying!

Tang Susu wasn't much better. She had more to consider. For example, the most crucial point – prolonging life.

First, it was Corpse Flesh, then the bronze mirror that could absorb lifespans. It all seemed to be related to longevity.

Was she overthinking it, or was there really something she didn't understand?

Perhaps in a few days, she would need to visit the Tang family's old mansion and see how Old Master Tang and Old Madam Tang were doing.

Because the things recorded in "Records of a Hundred Lives" were beyond the comprehension of ordinary people, Tang Susu only glanced at it a few times before setting it aside. Gou Dan, on the other hand, although disgusted, continued to read it seriously.

When Tang Susu finished showering, she saw Gou Dan squatting on her dressing table, swishing its tail, its almond-shaped eyes watery.

This pleading look made Tang Susu twitch her lips. "What do you want now?"

"Su Su, let's go find Qi Yue on Sunday."

"…Didn't you used to hate him?"

"I still hate him!" Different fur color, no way to be friends!

Tang Susu walked over to the dressing table and sat down, placing Gou Dan to the side. She opened a bottle of lotion and said while applying it to her face, "Then why are you looking for him?"

Gou Dan hooked its tail around Tang Susu's finger. "I saw a kind of fish in 'Records of a Hundred Lives.' It tastes delicious, but it's a bit ferocious."

"So, you want him to help you fish?"

"Of course not! I remember that kind of fish loves to eat foxes. I'm going to let him be the bait!"

Tang Susu's hand froze. She turned to look at Gou Dan, speechless at this foodie's logic.

Given Gou Dan's obsession with food, Tang Susu didn't refuse outright. Instead, she agreed to meet Qi Yue another day and let them discuss it face-to-face.

Early Saturday morning, Tang Susu woke up feeling suffocated. She opened her eyes abruptly and saw Gou Dan lying on her chest, staring at her intently. Seeing that she was finally awake, it said excitedly, "Su Su, hurry up and call Qi Yue."

Tang Susu covered her face with one hand. This feeling of having a troublesome child at home—

In the end, she still called Qi Yue. It was 5:30 in the morning, and Qi Yue actually answered. He readily agreed to her request to meet.

They agreed to meet at nine in the morning, which Gou Dan forcibly changed to eight. The address Qi Yue gave her was near the orphanage in the western suburbs. This made her can't help but think of what she had said to Qi Yue before, about going to the orphanage to find a girlfriend.

Did he actually go?

Urged by Gou Dan, Tang Susu went out without even finishing her breakfast.

Sitting on the bus to the western suburbs, there were only a few people on board. Tang Susu leaned her head against the window, her face haggard.

It was a beautiful weekend, and everyone else was catching up on sleep. Only she was stuck with this troublesome creature.

Still thinking about using a fox as bait, why not just fly to the moon!

After Qi Yue broke up with Jian Dan, he stopped being a model. Now he opened a small restaurant in the western suburbs. Opening a restaurant in such a desolate place, who knew who he was selling his food to?

Qi Yue's restaurant was located at the foot of August Mountain in the western suburbs. This mountain was far inferior to Tian Ding Mountain in terms of Feng Shui. Apart from the occasional idle person coming here for hiking, very few people came here.

Qi Yue's restaurant was a two-story, antique-style building. The courtyard was planted with flowers and plants, and a cobblestone path led straight to the back.

A wooden pole was erected in front of the building, with a white lantern hanging from it. As the wind blew, the lantern made a strange whistling sound.

No matter how you looked at it, this place didn't seem like it was meant to entertain ordinary people.
