The Bowl of Seven Emotions
Chapters ListChapter 91: Interception
Bai Nian, seeing Huang Qi's insistence, couldn't help but feel curious. "Mr. Huang, what do you think the problem is?"
"Tang Susu must have a connection with Qi Yue. Maybe they conspired to harm my younger sister."
"What's your reasoning? As far as I know, Mr. Qi did what he did because the Huang family did some unsavory things. The current outcome can only be considered as reaping what they sowed. In our line of work, this is called karmic retribution. What grudge does Miss Tang have against the Huang family?"
Perhaps Bai Nian's words were too blunt. A flicker of embarrassment crossed Huang Qi's face, but he didn't dare show any resentment in front of these people. He could only suppress the anger in his chest and say word by word, "If these unexpected events hadn't happened, my younger sister might have been with Shi Chengxuan long ago. Now, as you can see, she has instead become Shi Chengxuan's woman."
Bai Nian covered his mouth with a fist, his expression a little complicated.
If he didn't know Shi Chengxuan, he might have actually believed Huang Qi's nonsense.
With Shi Chengxuan's personality, if he truly had his eye on a woman, how could he allow anyone to lay a finger on her? What kind of misconception did the Huang family have that made them think their eldest Miss and Shi Chengxuan had a chance to become a couple?
Bai Nian had no interest in continuing this pointless conversation. He shook his head and said, "Mr. Huang, I'm powerless. I can only assure you that Miss Tang is an ordinary person. If even you can't find any connection between Miss Huang's situation and her, then it can only mean she's innocent."
Huang Qi gritted his teeth, the veins on his temples throbbing.
Bai Nian had his own speculations about Huang Qi's fixation on Tang Susu. He couldn't afford to offend Shi Chengxuan, and consequently, he had to be subservient to Tang Susu, the woman who "stole" the man from his sister. How could he feel comfortable with that? Furthermore, with Huang Xiaoxiao's situation completely hopeless, Huang Qi was now like an inflated balloon, about to explode at any moment. He needed someone to bear all the blame.
As the saying goes, pick the soft persimmon to squeeze. As the only weakling in the whole affair, Tang Susu was obviously a good choice.
He couldn't afford to offend Shi Chengxuan, so he was pushing them to do it.
Unfortunately, what Huang Qi didn't know was that before going to the Huang family, half of the people in this private room had already experienced Shi Chengxuan's methods and sworn never to go near that man again.
Seeing that Bai Nian refused to budge, Huang Qi felt resentful but couldn't do anything. He just thought that one day, when Shi Chengxuan no longer protected that woman, he would deal with her.
Tang Susu was completely unaware of the undercurrents of this storm. She felt sleepy after lunch. She thought Shi Chengxuan was driving back to the company, but he took a different route midway.
"Aren't we going back to the company?" Tang Susu yawned, tears welling up in the corners of her eyes. She looked at the scenery outside in a daze, feeling that it was somewhat different, and asked casually.
Shi Chengxuan didn't answer her question but instead asked, "Aren't you sleepy?"
"Sleepy~~~" Tang Susu leaned her head against the car window, too sleepy to keep her eyes open. She had barely slept last night and couldn't hold on any longer.
"Sleep. We'll go back to the company when you wake up."
Before Shi Chengxuan even finished his sentence, Tang Susu had already fallen into a deep sleep.
She slept soundly. When she woke up, the quilt was warm, and she was hugging a soft, fluffy pillow. The room was quiet, and the heavy curtains blocked the outside light, making it difficult for her to tell the time.
After lying in bed with her eyes half-closed for a while, Tang Susu suddenly realized something: this wasn't her home!
She scrambled out of bed in a panic, tripped over the quilt, and rolled onto the floor, tangled in the bedding.
The commotion in the room must have been loud because footsteps sounded outside the door. Then, with a click, the door was pushed open from the outside, and soft light streamed in.
Tang Susu sat amidst the soft down quilt, her long hair framing her small face, her eyes wide open, looking innocent and bewildered.
Shi Chengxuan, who had changed out of his suit and was wearing light-colored casual clothes, walked in against the light. He bent down and lifted her, along with the quilt, back onto the bed.
Then, he placed his hands on either side of her, their foreheads touching, and said with a smile in his voice, "Awake?"
Tang Susu belatedly realized her embarrassing situation and replied without thinking, "Not awake!" Then, she pulled the quilt over her head, trying to hide.
Shi Chengxuan pressed his knee on the quilt, chuckled, and pecked her lips. "Get up and eat."
Tang Susu, still half-asleep, hadn't yet realized she had been taken advantage of again. She tilted her head and complained, "Why am I eating all the time? I just had lunch before I went to sleep!"
"You should ask yourself why you slept until seven in the evening, not only missing dinner but also skipping half a day of work."
Tang Susu instantly fell silent.
"So, how do you plan to bribe your boss so he doesn't deduct your bonus?" Shi Chengxuan sat on the bed and pulled her into his arms.
Tang Susu obediently let him hold her, thought for a moment, and said seriously, "You're going to lose your girlfriend this way."
Shi Chengxuan laughed. "So, to please my girlfriend, I specially made her favorite dishes. I just don't know if she'll do me the honor of eating them."
"Fine, I forgive you." Tang Susu lifted her chin. "Take this Empress to dine."
"As you command, my Empress." The impudent Shi Chengxuan picked up his "Empress" and carried her downstairs for dinner.
Shi Chengxuan's cooking skills were quite good. They were enjoying their three dishes and a soup when Tang Susu's phone, placed on the table, suddenly rang.
Tang Susu glanced at the screen and saw it was Bai Mian calling. She put down her chopsticks and picked up the phone.
"Susu, I've been played!"
Before Tang Susu could even speak, Bai Mian's suppressed, furious voice came through the phone.
"What happened?"
"My people went to sign the contract with Aila today, but they saw people from Genesis there too. The agreed price has more than doubled."
"Genesis, the jewelry group? How did they get the news? Is Aila planning to shop around?" Tang Susu frowned, remembering the woman she met that day. She didn't seem like the type to go back on her word.
"I don't know. Aila didn't show up at all. It was her husband who talked to us. Damn it, intercepting my deal, those bitches!"
It was inevitable to encounter such things in business, but this time, Bai Mian was unusually angry. It wasn't about losing money, but the feeling of being wronged.
"So, Genesis bought the designs?"
