The Bowl of Seven Emotions
Chapters ListChapter 84: Retribution
Knowing his son was always close to Tang Susu, Mi Yong patted his head and didn't correct his form of address. "Don't gossip about other people's affairs."
Mi Zheng snorted. "I really don't know what Uncle is thinking. Is Sister Susu not his daughter? Why is he so biased?"
"You, ah!" Tapping his son's head, a glint flashed in Mi Yong's eyes. "Your uncle naturally has his reasons for doing so."
Despite his father's words, Mi Zheng remained furious. Seeing Tang Qi followed by a group of her sisters, surrounded as she descended the stairs, further fueled his anger.
So pretentious!
He muttered to himself, and Mi Yong, overhearing, simply shook his head with a smile.
Not long after, Tang Qiming returned. Seeing Mi Zheng's dejected look, he couldn't help but ask with a smile, "What's wrong, Xiao Zheng? Did you not do well on your test?"
"No, I'm just a little bored."
"If you're bored, go out and play with your sister."
At these words, Mi Zheng's eyes darted around. He asked, "Uncle, why didn't Sister Susu come?"
"Oh, she'll be here in a while," Tang Qiming replied casually.
Suddenly receiving a call from Tang Susu, Tang Qiming wasn't surprised. The young girl needed to suffer a few setbacks to understand the world. Unwavering defiance would only drive her to a dead end.
After this incident, she would become increasingly obedient, which was precisely what Tang Qiming desired.
As long as Tang Susu remained docile and obedient, he wouldn't mind slightly elevating her status within the family.
Tang Qiming didn't deliberately lower his voice, and Tang Qi, upon descending the stairs, overheard him. Her face immediately fell. "What is she doing here? Last time, we nicely invited her home for a meal, and she refused. Anyone would think Mom and Dad mistreated her."
As soon as Tang Qi spoke, Mi Zheng rolled his eyes. Stealing someone's rightful place wasn't considered mistreatment? How shameless!
Seeing his son's reaction, Mi Yong patted his hand, managing to restrain him from jumping up and arguing with Tang Qi in public.
Tang Qiming didn't respond to Tang Qi's accusations. Tang Qi, knowing her father's temper, refrained from saying anything more offensive and started whispering complaints to her cousins.
Tang Susu arrived at the Tang residence just as dinner was being served. Entering the dining room, she saw everyone was already eating. Seeing her, the new Mrs. Tang, An Qi, sitting beside Tang Qiming, her eyes flickered. With a smile, she rose to greet her. "Susu, why are you only just arriving? Everyone has been waiting for you for a while."
Tang Susu glanced at the dining table. "Oh, really? I didn't notice."
Tang Qiming slammed the table. "What's with that sarcastic tone? If you don't want to eat, get out!"
These words were a bit harsh. Everyone assumed Tang Susu would storm off, but instead, she walked toward the table, casually placed her bag on a chair at the end, and sat down.
An Qi coughed lightly, and a maid immediately came forward to bring Tang Susu cutlery. The previously quiet dining room became lively once more.
Tang Susu sat at the very end, surrounded by younger relatives. Unfortunately, none of them were close to her. Mi Zheng wanted to talk to her, but with three people between them, he could only temporarily give up.
The meal lasted for over half an hour. People gradually put down their chopsticks, but no one left; they remained seated at the table.
This was a Tang family rule. Before the head of the family spoke, no one could start eating. After finishing, no one could leave before the head of the family put down their chopsticks.
Tang Susu arrived late and didn't eat quickly, ignoring everything said around her.
Tang Qi couldn't stand this and remarked, "Has Big Sister not eaten for days? You're so focused on eating you can't even lift your head?"
Tang Susu wiped her mouth and smiled. "Lift my head to look at you? That would ruin my appetite."
"What do you mean?" Tang Qi raised her voice.
"Susu, you're going too far. How can you speak like that?"
"Exactly, Qiqi just made a casual remark. Do you have to be like this?"
With just one sentence, she drew criticism from everyone, as if anything Tang Qi said was justified, while she couldn't utter a word.
Tang Susu casually tossed her napkin onto the table and stood up. Looking up, she saw Tang Qiming staring at her with displeasure.
Before Tang Qiming could speak, Tang Susu smiled at him and said softly, "Father, have you heard? Uncle Xue was hit by a crystal chandelier that fell from the ceiling."
Tang Qiming felt his temples throb. Tang Susu's behavior gave him a bad premonition.
"Father should also be careful. Who knows what might suddenly fall on you?"
After speaking, she picked up her bag and turned to leave.
"Stop! What do you mean by that?" Wasn't she cursing him?! Tang Qiming stood up furiously, pointing at Tang Susu.
"Of course, it's to remind Father. Doing too many wicked things will bring retribution."
Tang Susu turned and walked out. Tang Qiming's roar came from behind her, but it was quickly drowned out by a loud crash.
The chandelier didn't fall, but the ceiling did.
Unfortunately, the piece that fell landed directly on Tang Qiming.
"Oh my god…" Screams and cries erupted as people surrounded Tang Qiming. Mi Zheng stared at Tang Susu's retreating figure in stunned silence.
What just happened? Was that the legendary jinx?
Mi Yong, looking at his niece, raised an eyebrow. Even he, a man of the world, had never encountered such a bizarre situation.
"Dad, did my sister's mouth just become magically effective?"
Mi Yong patted his son's head, speechless. "Shut up and call an ambulance."
"Right, right, call an ambulance! And call the police! It must have been Tang Susu! Have the police arrest her!" Tang Qi's voice was sharp and piercing.
Mi Zheng ignored her and called for an ambulance. Within ten minutes, it arrived, and everyone followed it. Mi Zheng and his father stayed behind.
"Dad, I don't think Tang Qi will let this go. What if she really calls the police? Will Sister Susu be arrested?" He wasn't worried without reason. It was just too coincidental that Tang Qiming had his accident right after Tang Susu spoke. It was hard not to connect the two.
Calling it a coincidence? Who would believe that!
"The police need evidence to arrest someone."
Compared to his son's panic, Mi Yong appeared remarkably calm. He led his son back into the empty dining room, looking at the mess and the hole in the ceiling.
How could it be so coincidental that that particular piece fell right on Tang Qiming's head?
He had been sitting next to Tang Qiming, witnessing the ceiling collapse with his own eyes. Honestly, when Tang Qiming fell to the ground, the first thought that flashed through his mind was—retribution!
"So, Sister Susu will be okay?"
"Your sister is more capable than you think." Mi Yong didn't elaborate. Putting his arm around his son, he said, "Let's go home."
